Inspired by Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett
WFG is a queer and physical deconstruction of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, transforming its structure of two days and two waiting figures into a ritual of mourning and survival. The piece honors four friends who died by suicide and four symbolic forms of self-destruction, explored through physical exhaustion and performance endurance.
The first act, through Vladimir, is philosophical and introspective, reflecting on loneliness, time, and imagined deaths. The second act, embodied by Estragon, reinterprets real suicides through the language of musicals, turning despair into performance.
When Godot still does not arrive, the characters merge, possessed by despair.
The cycle repeats endlessly, an echo of waiting, loss, and the fragile hope that next time,
Godot might be in the audience.
